Toll and parking are billed separately at the actual amount, and the driver allowance is already built into the round-trip rate. No changes to the fare once you're on the road - The number you're given at booking is the number you pay at Alleppey. Toll is the only thing added separately, and it's shown to you before the trip starts.

Flight running late doesn't cost you anything extra - We track your flight ourselves. If it's delayed, your driver's schedule moves with it, and there's no additional charge for the wait.

A smooth, easy drive from start to finish - This route stays mostly flat and on the highway, so even with two hours on the road, it's a comfortable ride rather than a tiring one.

Drivers who know exactly which jetty to use - Alleppey has several houseboat boarding points, including Finishing Point and Punnamada. Our drivers know which spot your operator runs from and take you straight there.

Hatchback - Good for a solo traveler or a couple with one or two bags, keeping your trip light on your pocket and your space. Since the drive is short and flat, it stays comfortable even without extra room.

Alleppey gets visitors from many places across Kerala, so here is about how long the drive will be depending on where you are coming from:

The stretch from Adimali onward is where the trip looks most scenic — twisty roads, waterfalls on the side path, and the weather dropping quickly as you reach high up. Most drivers stop near Cheeyappara or Valara falls when timing allows, since it is a normal rest spot nearly halfway up the climb.

If your trip has some time built in beyond the houseboat itself, a handful of spots are worth working into the schedule.

Vembanad Lake - The largest lake in Kerala, and the backbone of the whole backwater network. Most houseboat cruises pass through part of it, and it's especially calm early in the morning.

Alappuzha Beach - Right in town, with an old pier stretching out into the Arabian Sea that's been standing for over 150 years. Evenings here get a proper crowd for the sunset.

Alappuzha Lighthouse - Built in 1862, still functioning, and open for visitors to climb up for a wide view of the coastline and the backwater belt behind it. Sits close enough to the beach to cover both in one stop.

Pathiramanal Island - A small island in the middle of Vembanad Lake, reachable only by boat, and known for the birds that migrate there through the cooler months. Worth it if anyone in the group is into birdwatching.

Krishnapuram Palace - Around 45 km from Alleppey town near Kayamkulam, this old palace has one of the biggest wall paintings in Kerala. Most tourists don't go here, and that is why it is not crowded at all.

Marari Beach - A peaceful beach area not far from the main town. It is great for travelers who want a beach experience away from the heavy rush of Alappuzha Beach.

Nehru Trophy Boat Race - If your travel dates match the second Saturday of August, planning your days around the snake boat race at Punnamada Lake is a great idea. It is one of the main festivals here and a lot of people come to see it every year.

November to February is when Alleppey sees the most visitors — mornings are cool, the water's calm, and conditions are about as good as they get for a houseboat cruise. It's also the busiest stretch for jetty traffic, so an early flight works in your favour if you want an easy check-in.

Monsoon season, from June through August, brings heavier rain and higher water levels. Many people like this because nature turns beautifully green, though houseboats might change their schedules slightly. March to May is quiet with less crowd, but afternoons get hot fast, so it is best to start your day early.
